Women's Self Defense at API

API International Women’s Self Defense program offers a unique approach in teaching women to defend themselves.  You are taught to defend as you are – a woman, taught by a woman.  You learn to use your natural movement, sensitivities and strengths to defend yourself rather than relying on muscle.  Our intent is to help women feel more confident and empowered in a violent world

We can teach you to feel better about yourself by replacing fear with knowledge.   There are no guarantees and there is not one perfect technique – there is only one you and we can help make you the best you can be.  In the techniques taught, you will learn sensitivity - when you move it's instinctual.  If and when you ever need to protect yourself, you want to be able to move automatically and effectively not get caught up in the fear.  If you chose to do one seminar or a series of classes, each time you will walk away with something effective.  Knowledge is empowering!

Beyond that our participants find themselves laughing and having a good time - amazed at how simple these techniques are.

These classes are taught by the API team of GM Kurtis Goodwin and Master Angie Goodwin.

GM Goodwin, the founder of API International Combat Arts, has made martial arts his life.  He is committed to the growth of himself and others through the martial arts he trains.  His approach to teaching is a unique and fun one - he can teach anyone.  He has owned his school and has been teaching for over 20 years and still to this day continues to train with his teachers - constant growth.  His training ranges from weapons, empty hand to internal practices in the styles of Hinigaran Arnis de Mano, Cacoy Doce Pares, Betawi Kilap, Laos Kickboxing, Nine-Headed Snake Fist Kung Fu to name a few.  Master Angie Goodwin has been a student of GrandMaster Goodwin's for over 15 years.  She has traveled with GrandMaster Goodwin to the Philippines and Mexico plus other US states to both teach and train.

GM Kurtis and Master Angie have decided to bring women's self defense to our community as a way to give back.  We feel it's an important element that all women should add to their lives.  We would love the opportunity to share some of our knowledge with you.

We are currently offering training seminars and workshops. If you are interested in having a great time training with us, set up a women's self defense seminar for you and a group of family/friends or for your office staff.  We offer free seminars every few months.  We also have on-going classes - contact us for times and prices.  For any more information, please contact us.  We would love help!
